Tuntutan ini buntut penayangan film dokumenter In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal oleh Netflix.

Salah satu tuntutannya adalah menghentikan penayangan In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal di Netflix.

Diketahui, Baby Garden adalah sekte kedua yang mengajukan penghentian penayangan film dokumenter tersebut, setelah Christian Gospel Mission (JMS).

Menurut dokumen hukum tertanggal 13 Maret 2023, Kim Ki Soon (83), ketua sekte Baby Garden, mengajukan permohonan perintah sementara terhadap perusahaan Netflix Korea, MBC, dan produser dokumenter Jo Sung Hyun ke Pengadilan Distrik Pusat Seoul pada 8 Maret 2023.

Organisasi tersebut meminta pengadilan untuk melarang streaming dan penayangan episode ke-5 dan ke-6 yang masing-masing berjudul “The Baby Garden, On the Way to the Heaven” dan “The Baby Garden of Death”.

Pihak Kim Ki Soon mengatakan, "Episode 5 dan 6 dari In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal berisi informasi palsu tentang Baby Garden dan Kim Ki Soon".

Pihak Kim Ki Soon juga menuntut agar Netflix Korea membayar kerugian kepada The Baby Garden sebesar 10 juta won Korea atau setara Rp 118 juta setiap hari saat episode terus mengalir.

Pada tahun 2001, Baby Garden juga mengajukan permintaan untuk melarang penyiaran terhadap saluran televisi SBS setelah menayangkan Unanswered Questions - 5 years after the Baby Garden.

Pada saat itu, Pengadilan Distrik Selatan dari Pengadilan Distrik Seoul menerima hal ini, dan SBS segera memproduksi film dokumenter khusus alih-alih episode 5 Years after the Baby Garden, yang dijadwalkan akan ditayangkan.

Namun, tampaknya tidak mungkin pengadilan akan menerima permintaan pihak The Baby Garden pada putusan kali ini.

Sebelumnya, JMS juga mengajukan putusan, tetapi dibatalkan pada 2 Maret.

Pada saat itu, pengadilan mengatakan, “Tampaknya MBC dan Netflix mengumpulkan banyak data objektif dan subjektif dan mengatur program berdasarkan semua fakta itu”.

Adapun, The Baby Garden adalah sekte yang didirikan Kim Ki Soon pada tahun 1982.

Sekte ini pada bulan Desember 1982, mendirikan Synnara Records, sebuah perusahaan distribusi rekaman di Yongdu-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.

Pada bulan Desember 1996, Kim Ki Soon muncul di persidangan setelah dicurigai membunuh dan menguburkan beberapa orang yang mengikuti sektenya.

Dia dinyatakan bersalah atas enam dakwaan, termasuk penggelapan pajak, pencurian, dan penyerangan.

Kim Ki Soon lalu dijatuhi hukuman empat tahun penjara dan denda sebesar 5,6 miliar won Korea atau setara Rp 66 miliar, tetapi kemudian dibebaskan dengan jaminan.
